Sexisim is Ugly.

For the past week, something is brewing in my country. The women are up in arms against sexist statements by two male Members of Parliament. I fully support these ladies and their right to protest against such remarks and it was made by MP's whom the people voted them to be where they are. Now the women demanded an apology from these two MP's.
I remembered some time back another high ranking official made a statement that divorced women are "gatal" meaning literally "itchy". There was also a hue and cry for that official to withdraw his remarks.
I guess all these verbal remarks although unacceptable and inappropriate, pales against what actually did happened in China many many years ago! Just because the men find women with small feet beautiful, it became such a horrible painful nightmare for many young girls whose feet were bound from a very young age. I personally had seen an old lady back in the 50's who had bound feet! Of course she came from China and my mom told me that when this old lady removed the bindings on her feet, the stench was unberable! I noticed that this old lady walked with a hobble. Beautiful? Urgh!
I received these photos from someone and would like to share here so that you can imagine the agony these women went through? Not for days but for a couple of years before the feet become numbed. My Gosh!

Corner Parkers
May 15, 2007 | 3 Comments
I don't enjoy doing this! It make me look like a fussy old fart but after day in and day out of running into them ever since I moved into this rather new residential area, Gosh! I can't help but got to introduce you to them whom I called "The Corner Parkers" who happen to live in the neighbourhood.
Oh! I really do not know who they are or else I will have a friendly chat with them for the sake of safety for other people living in the same neighbourhood. So meet them and say hellooooO!

Perhaps the saying 'monkey see monkey do' is ever so true! In conclusion I must say that I am not angry but just amused by my neighbours. I had just done a Personality Test two days ago and I wonder to which category do Corner Parkers belong? I suggest TGIFP - Thank God is Free Parking! Ok! what happens if you dont have a vehicle and you want to reserve a particular parking lot, so what would you do? Simple! stick your claim with whatever is at hand moreover you don't need to pay for a parking ticket! Malaysia Boleh! which is a nationalistic cry that we can do it however way we do it. Yeah, we are definitely a very tolerant society! Enjoy.

I am a sucker to such tests. Perhaps just want to know myself better and hope to connect with like-minded people. Stumbled upon this Test called the Jung Personality Test which is similar to the famous Myers-Briggs Test.
Here are my results and honestly they are quite an accurate description of my personality.

ESFJ - "Seller". Most sociable of all types. Nurturer of harmony. Outstanding host or hostesses. 12.3% of total population. |

A Great Mom
May 13, 2007 | 2 Comments
I come to know Jacklynker lately and her story is a very inspiring one. Jacklyn is a courageous person, with a fantastic determination to press-on with her life despite of the many set-backs she faced some years back. Today she is an Internet Marketeer promoting Self-Development.
She has my admiration as someone who never gives up hope! Today she blogged about her mom giving tribute to all mothers in the world. I am impressed with the self-sacrifice of a mom for her daughter's life. A great story and Jacklynker's mom deserves it and to me she is the representation of Moms.

My Mom
May 12, 2007 | 2 Comments
That was my mom, she passed away in 1970. That was 36 years ago and way back then I was a fresh graduate from college and was embarking on my first job. My mom came from Guanzhou, China and she came over to Malaya in 1945 just after the Japanese occupation of my country ended.
What I remembered about her was that she was not a great cook, not a great house-keeper but she was such a loving mom. Well, she married my father in Guangzhou and soon after the birth of my eldest sister, my dad left for Malaya seeking for his pot of gold. Then the Second World War started and with the Japanese Invasion of China and later Malaya and nearly the whole of South-East Asia, my mom and dad were separated and lost contact for many years. Typical of women during her days, she adopted a boy who became my elder brother to propagate the surname of the family. That was the chief reason that boys were valued more than girls and especially among the Chinese. My mom did not know whether my dad was still alive during those terrible times.
It was only after the war that they managed to re-connect and my dad brought them over to Malaya and two years later I was borned followed by my younger brother. My mom was the main figure in the family for in those days, the fathers job was to earn money and we as kids seldom see our father.
When I was out of college and was about to start my career, my mom passed away in her sleep. However I remembered that fateful day she asked me whether would I give her a hundred dollars every month as her pocket money when I started working. I said yes but it was not meant to happened for that night she passed away. Although I had never given my mom a single gift nor that hundred dollars but I will always remember the smile on her face when I said I will. I believe this is the most wonderful thing about moms, they are ever so happy when her children are willing to show gestures of love and care even though they may not receive it like in my case. My tribute to all mothers in the world. Blessed Mother's Day.
