Renovation Boo-boo!

August 27, 2007 | 5 Comments

Had been rather busy supervising a renovation job for my brother-in-law. It took nearly 12th months! Well its a big house mind you. Just over the week-end my brother also received his keys for a new apartment near to where I live and he invited me to take a look. To our amazement and bewilderment, some silly contractor went to the wrong apartment and knocked off somebody’s wall! Can you imagine this happening to you? My brother was glad that it was not his apartment! Just wonder the shock on the owner’s face when he popped in to find a wall knocked down! We had such a good laugh but the contractor’s supervisor was not laughing! LoL!

Then over dinner rock’s brother told us that his friend from Singapore bought an expensive condo next to the KLCC and it costs him RM 1.2 Million. However he was so disappointed with the workmanship of his ‘expensive’ condo that he was in a fury! Accordingly, the building materials used were cheap materials and the builder is a Singapore Company and that he said made him feel rather embarrassed. Now, it seems he wanted to sell it off in disgust but who would pay that much for it? Would you?

Another young guy, around mid-thirties, who is some VP of a local bank also met me at the renovation site and he asked me who designed and managed the reno works for he was quite impressed with the layout, good space usage etc. I was too shy to tell him but he kept on asking for he is now considering buying the house just two doors away for RM $1.25 Million! Perhaps he wanted to engage the project manager, i.e. me! :)

I am wondering in amazement at these yuppies! Both these two bought properties above a million and I just wonder how much do they earn? Even for a middle-income guy, to purchase a double-storey link house in KL, he have to pay throughout his whole life or at least 15 years to settle the loan and these houses only costs RM $300 to $400 K! Well I guess there are some lucky ones whose salaries must be in the RM $50K per month! My friend who is an architect used to design beautiful bungalow houses for developers locally, told me that he was equally surprised at those who signed-up the S&P on launching day! He told me that he thought or expect to see business people, wealthy people to sign-up but those who purchased were yuppies just ordinary working guys! These bungalows go for RM $3 to $5 Million a piece! Sigh with envy!

Five Faves Draw

August 24, 2007 | 7 Comments

My Five Favorite Links from Trinity who hails from Indonesia, will be the last meme assignment for me this week! Thanks Trinity for this meme and I think it is a great meme because in doing it I really have to ponder on the candidates who are selected from a lucky draw from my pool of favorites on my Blogroll. Hey! Trinity you really know how to give me a tough time for this is by far the most difficult meme! Equivalent to doing a blog review!

The common denominator among them is that they are on my Blogroll implying they must be my favorites. As a person who holds relationship with people very high and dear in my heart, whoever they are, from whatever station in life, age, gender, race and creed, they are on my Blogroll for a simple reason, that I can connect with them. I believe we have a relationship worthy to be pursued, nurtured, and to be highly regarded, respected and honoured!

On this precept, let me introduce my favorites from my personal perception:-

J@nice

First impression I got was a lively, energetic mom with two lovable boys and a hubby whom I met or seen from one of the photos taken when they went for a dive in Bali! With the goggles he looks quite trim and young! Coming from what we Malaysian call Kia-su land, she proves to us that she is not one. I am impressed by her devotion to her Amos and Zachry, often referring to them in such endearing terms. J@anice is frank, fun loving, sporty, never rude and she can make a total stranger feel like she has known you for quite some time! I am sure she loves the out-door life from her various week-end trips around her beloved Singapore. Somehow you get the feeling that when you are feeling down, you can cry on her shoulders. I mean for you ladies and for the guys back-off, she is private property!

Endoh

Another from Singapore! First impression of Endoh was a very thoughtful, thinking, sensitive, polite young man. As I start reading his blog, he is as what he projects himself to be! Hey! this means this guy is transparent enough, sufficiently secured enough to share with you who he is! A melancholic at times, I gather that he can be the shy type, with girls I mean. Done some travelling, seen some places, experienced life and from his posts, he learned invaluable life lessons! At times, he gets himself into controversial issues but that’s how we learn isn’t it. Read his posts, Endoh has great stuff there. Can use him to sharpen each other’s mind. I like him.

Marzie

From her looks, (she scores here) she is a true Anak Malaysia! I guess she must have Malay, Chinese and a bit of Arab blood! One of Marzie’s passion is perfumes! I am sure she smell different every day with her collection. Hey! Marzie try telling your hubby to identify you with his eyes close and just depend on his sense of smell! A free lance copy-writer by profession and don’t you ever ask her what ‘s her job! Her second love is for her kitty! Her DH must contend with a cat? Known as the most friendly blogger on Spicy Page and that speaks something about her being warm, approachable and likeable! Understand she is helpful too! Great to be her friend for she leaves strong foot prints in your heart. She is also energetic, fleeting across the blogosphere with her smile and quips! Good sense of humor too.

Desiree

Well, well, what a coincidence that Desiree is selected from the lucky draw! One of my earliest blogger friend and by now would have known her for close to nine months. A prolific writer, good sense of balance and weaving her way in and out of the diverse views in her writing. Shares her personal experience and from her heart too! She can be provocative and her posts engaging but always encouraging. She is one blogger who have so many comments on her posts! That is a testimony to what I have said about Desiree. Read her blog and you’ll go back for more! I consider her like-minded and one who shares from her heart.

Trinity

She’s the only one not from the draw pool! I guess for giving me this tough meme it is good manners to give Trinity some love-links! Get to know her for only about a month but you know, sometimes you meet certain people and you just click! So I really do not know trinity that well but this much I have to share. Trinity’s humble way of introducing herself, her family and her life is so captivating! Can see she’s a grateful person from the way she holds her mentors in such esteem! The great thing about grateful people is that they are also thankful people. She loves her hubby very much, blessed man he is. Trinity must love serene peaceful surroundings for she is also a thinker! The interesting thing from her thus far was that she thought I am Korean! Well excuse her for “bokjae” is my Korean name given to me by my Korean business associates a long time ago.

So, friends, first time visitors, bloggers do drop by and discover these 5 wonderful bloggers and you won’t be disappointed! Cheerio!
