Share our Joy, an Update

September 21, 2007 | 5 Comments

After my post on Sharing Their Joy, we would like to invite our readers, fellow bloggers, brothers and sisters in Christ to Share Our Joy! Rock just completed her medical and Thank God, everything is FINE! Hurray!

Months of persistent exercises, healthy diet plus tears, groans and moans! Not forgetting the numerous prayers, encouragement and generous gifts and help received from many loving people around us. Rock is smiling more and can even crack jokes with me! Sometimes I worry because she could not stop laughing even after minutes after my silly jokes! To me the greatest achievement thus far is rock’s acceptance of her condition and now truly learning to move on and leaving her traumatic 23 months behind. Although a small step in a way but all things start with small steps! She is agreeable to take evening walks round the neighbourhood too!

The only thing her endocrine doctors are not too happy was her weight! She is at a trim 45Kg and remained there for the past 10 months! Slimmer than when I met her 37 years ago! I am sure you ladies who are weight watchers are green with envy! Well after some lengthy discussions, questioning and track backs so to say, the doctors discovered the cause of her static weight problem!

Rock has a Thyroid problem and she is taking a medication called Thyroxine! Apparently Thyroxine cannot be taken with any drinks, cereals that contain milk! Somehow it cancels the effect! So for those who are on Thyroxine please take note. We’ll be back to the doctors in 3 months time for another round of check-up and hope to see rock’s weight improves. Not too sure she’s happy with that but for her health sake she need to put on a bit more weight!

Funny Quips About Marriage

September 20, 2007 | 8 Comments

Personally, I see marriage as a really wonderful thing. It is about two people, a man and a woman I mean, making a Covenant Relationship with God as Witness, to love and to behold and till death do we part type of commitment. Through the metamorphosis of this relationship, love deepens, the relationship matures and bringing forth children. In old age they depend and rely on each other for care-giving, when one is not in good health, for companionship and most important just be there for each other!
However there are some funny and humorous side to a marriage as well. No one can express the funny side so well as Cartoonists! Well lets take these cartoon clips in the right spirit rather than being faulting any party concerned. Sit back and muse over them.

What Men Think of Marriage

September 20, 2007 | 1 Comment

After my recent post Truth in a Joke, about the words women used, it would be nice to know the views of some well known men on the topic of Marriage! Personally I am unable to come up with such humorous views.

By all means marry. If you get a good wife, you’ll be happy. If you get a bad one, you’ll become a philosopher. (Socrates).

“There’s a way of transferring funds that is even faster than electronic banking. It’s called marriage.” (James Holt McGavran).

“I’ve had bad luck with both my wives. The first one left me and the second one didn’t.” (Patrick Murray).

The most effective way to remember your wife’s birthday is to forget it once… (Anonymous).

A good wife always forgives her husband when she’s wrong. (Milton Berle).

A Horrendous Crime

September 19, 2007 | 2 Comments

In the last three months or less, in our own country, we experienced two horrendous crimes against very young girls! There was Sherway Ooi supposedly murdered by her own parents, then yesterday, another unidentified little girl’s body was found stuffed inside a travelling bag. She was sexually molested in the most horrendous way.

Many years ago there was the Ang Mei Heong case, a young girl, sexually molested by some drug addicts high on drugs. Of course the recent case of the missing girl Nurin Jazlin who is still not found. The anguish of the parents of Nurin must be beyond our comprehension. It looks like nowadays it is not safe at all to let your little girls go anywhere unaccompanied or perhaps take your eyes off them.

Some years back there were a spade of kidnapping of children in Shopping Complexes for a ransom of a couple of thousand Ringgit, less than ten actually. Criminals used these tactics to get fast cash and in an amount that an average person can come out with in a short time. Although bad but still your child’s life is intact; unlike the recent cases where the child was murdered!

What is happening nowadays? Is it drugs? Or too much pornography that drives these criminals to commit such evil crimes? Mind you, years ago one seldom hear of child sex but today it is in such demand! A breaking down of our social and moral values? Is it an abandonment in the believe of God, hence no fear of God that people can commit such horrendous crimes?
