For the past couple of months, I am getting more and more concerned about our beloved country Malaysia. We are now 50 Years after Independence but judging from the various issues that cropped up in recent months, I have got the feeling that Malaysia is entering her Darkest Hour in terms of Governance. We did make impressive strides in many areas such as in technology, building great structures, economic trade zones, a couple of firsts in the world of sports and the latest being the sending of a Malaysian into Space!
On the other hand, so many other areas in Malaysia seems to be deteriorating and are of great concern :
- 1. Increase in crimes like robberies, murders and rapes with a few turning cold case files.
- 2. Horrendous crimes against young children in recent months, some still unsolved.
- 3. Accusations of Corruption in the Police Force and involvement with organized crimes.
- 4. Malpractices and Abuse of Authority by Members of Parliament in Local Government.
- 5. Lack of check and balance in the unauthorized expenditure by Government Departments.
- 6. Increase Polarization of the different races, and religious beliefs.
- 7. Legal Cases were thrown out of court due to technical error in the collection of evidence.
- 8. The recent 2,000 Lawyers March For Justice in Putra Jaya in connection with the Lingam Tapes had the implications of interference of the Judiciary by the Executive Body, which is against our Constitution.
- 9. Threats in the Waving of the Keris by a Minister and the shout of dipping it in blood.
- 10. Multi Million Dollars Contracts that produces shoddy work in Government Buildings.
- 11. Our Political System is still very heavily hinged on racial themes.
Although in the past we did have big boo-boos like the Carrian Case, the Perwaja Steel fiasco, but those were rare but now it seems we uncover lots of questionable issues and in such frequency that sends shivers down my spine. I cannot help but ask myself what is happening to good governance nowadays! Never have we laden with so many pending unresolved important issues just within the last couple of months! It reminds me of a late stage cancer slowly eating away at the patient at an alarming speed! My heart is just heavy!

Discovered this entertaining website of href="http://quiz.blogactionday.org/">Professor Blogstein where you do a simple quiz and viola! they will tell you what sort of blogger are you! So being a sucker for things like that I took the quiz and here is what Professor Blogstein says about me as a blogger!
Greed Factor : Negative 4!
You're not in this for the money, for you blogging is all about the passion! Sure you might make a little pocket change now and again, but you know that it's the content, the audience and the people that are what makes blogging great!
Experience : Positive 4!
You've been blogging since Nick Denton was in diapers. When it comes to blogging experience, you are the authority on blogging. Heck you probably even have a blog where you give advice about blogging!
Sociability Factor : Positive 4!
You love web 2.0 stuff like Digg and Delicious and you're involved in more blogging groups, networks and activities than anyone else you know. With all your connections, you make Neil Patel look positively anti-social!
Hey! drop by there and find out about yourself! There is a call for Blog Action Day on 15th October! Get to know myself as a blogger more!
Even without being invited by NAFASG to join their note-worthy stand against Child Abuse, I am in support whole heartedly! The recent spade of horrendous crimes against young children are sufficient to stir us all into action! Life so young are being abused and murdered! We need to do something to create such an Awareness among the general public so that we can keep our eyes open and watch out for these young ones where ever we are! We are helping the police to be the eyes and ears and report any suspicious cases that we see! So lets arise and unite to help reduce the number of such cases! I strongly believe that we WILL make a difference! Malaysia Boleh!
The title sounds serious but it is nothing but serious! Received an sms from a friend regarding the above caption. Although what he said apparently looked racist but actually it is more of a joke than anything else but many a truth is said in a joke too! So what is this Malaysian Dilemma? Well it is about our foreign workers engaged by most Malaysian families or businesses.
Here it goes :-
- Engage Vietnamese workers, cats and dogs go missing!
- Engage Blangadeshi workers, Malay girls go missing!
- Engage Indonesian workers, money goes missing.
- Engage Indian workers, jeweleries go missing.
- Engage Chinese female workers, husbands go missing!
Wow! where can we turn to next? No wonder we have a dilemma! Enjoy!
Met with some friends lately for a night-out at the roadside stalls or locally known as 'mamak stalls' just to relax and do some catching-up with them. One of them is a school teacher and she told me something that spurs me to blog on what she said. There was this very well behaved boy in her class and he told her that he earns points from his parents in order to get money to buy the things he likes. For example he would be given 10 points if he completed his homework etc. The points earned would be converted to cash based on a system only known to the parents.
That is not such a big thing but what the boy told my friend after that was something to think about or to reflect upon. He said that in future when he grows up, he would do the same to his parents! I guess it means his parents got to earn points to earn cash from him! Wow! do you realize what is happening here?
I have heard of such a system in training children, that is reward them in a way to inculcate good or desirable behavior. However, little do parents realized that the tables can be turned upon them too! The usage of material gain as a reward system although sound effective and apparently good, but we forget about the value impact that the child is learning from it! I am sure you have seen that advert on TV some time back regarding how a child learned from the way his parents are treating the grand father who always messes the table when eating, causing embarrassment to the family! I need not elaborate further on this for I guess the point is made.
