A Rude Awakening

Met with some friends lately for a night-out at the roadside stalls or locally known as 'mamak stalls' just to relax and do some catching-up with them. One of them is a school teacher and she told me something that spurs me to blog on what she said. There was this very well behaved boy in her class and he told her that he earns points from his parents inorder to get money to buy the things he likes. For example he would be given 10 points if he completed his homework etc. The points earned would be converted to cash based on a system only known to the parents.
That is not such a big thing but what the boy told my friend after that was something to think about or to reflect upon. He said that in future when he grows up, he would do the same to his parents! I guess it means his parents got to earn points to earn cash from him! Wow! do you realize what is happening here?
I have heard of such a system in training children, that is reward them in a way to inculcate good or desirable behavior. However, little do parents realized that the tables can be turned upon them too! The usage of material gain as a reward system although sound effective and apparently good, but we forget about the value impact that the child is learning from it! I am sure you have seen that advert on TV some time back regarding how a child learned from the way his parents are treating the grand father who always messes the table when eating, causing embarrassment to the family! I need not elaborate further on this for I guess the point is made.

Chemical Attack Soho London!
October 4, 2007 | Leave a Comment
Today I came across a piece of news that's so funny! It seems that a cook at a Thai Restuarant was cooking or frying 4Kg. of Chilli Padi or commonly known as Bird-eye Chilli and somehow the fumes escaped to the streets and many passerbys felt smarting eyes and perhaps running noses too! Some even said that they could not breathe or burning sensation when they breathe.
Someone reported to the Police and the area was cordoned off, and fire-men were checking premises to locate the source of the suspected chemical attack in Soho London! Eventually they traced it to the Thai Restuarant and broke down the doors to the shock of the people working inside preparing meals!
I guess ever since the September 11th attack, the Western World especially US and UK are getting paranoid over the slightest sign of danger, even frying chilli padi! Well guess I can't blame them for their ugly experience of September 11th and the Under-ground Bombing in London.
Remembered years ago while studying in UK we fried salted fish and the whole hostel was filled with the wonerful aroma except to the westerners who filed a strong protest to the warden to stop such offensive smelling food! Ah! one man's meat is another's poison is true! We too could not stand the smell of their Stilton Cheese!

Help Please!
October 4, 2007 | 6 Comments
Something weird is happening on my blog ( or is it on others blogs)! I am unable to comment on others blogs! Whenever I clicked on the comments, the window that opens is just a narrow longish space! I am unable to see what I type! It works fine on my own blog so thats where I suspect maybe something weird is happening on their blogs! I am unable to do anything to adjust it so, sorry friends, unable to comment on your great posts!
Anybody out there understand or knows what is happening or any solutions? Would be glad to get some tips out there! Hellooooooooo! Help Please! Thanks!
Lately I am very busy finishing the last bit of a house renovation project for my sister-in-law. Leaving rock by herself at home and rushing around meeting the contractors, suppliers etc. So tired by the end of day that I went to bed around 11pm and knocked off immediately. Unable to blog much and earn much too! Perhaps another 10 days or so to completion!
