Malaysia A Police State?

When I learned of the arrests of famous blogger Raja Petra; Teresa Kok the DAP's Seputeh MP and Tan Hoon Cheng a journalist from Sin Chew Daily under our Internal Security Act, the thought of Malaysia going into a Police State crossed my mind.

The arrest of Raja Petra and Teresa Kok I can still give benefit of doubt to the Police, since I do not fully comprehend the issues involved and further clarifications from the Police will be helpful.

However the arrest of journalist Tan Hoon Cheng was so illogical! From what I gather from the local news, Tan was arrested under ISA (Internal Security Act) but the fact that UMNO had made a decision to suspend the perpetrator over the racist remark, indicated that what was reported by Tan was true and accurate! Why was she arrested for just doing her job as a journalist and there was no exaggeration or lies in what she wrote! Personally I would think the perpetrator is the one who should be arrested for what he said was the cause of all the bad vibes. Tan was not involved in any of the issues mentioned, she just reported what she heard.

It would be rather interesting to see what happens in the next few days, when the citizens of Malaysia think through the whole debacle! The full Moon of the Mid-autumn Festival for Tan will not be a bright one this year!

Don’t laugh at The Chinaman

Firstly, I have to say that I was so disappointed that Rafael Nadal did not make it into the US Open Finals! Secondly I was disappointed that the Finals between Roger Federal and Andrew Murray was over in just 2 hours in straight sets! Expected Andrew Murray to put on a better fight since he could knock-out the World No. 1!

Well, today I would like to share with you something I heard from a friend about Chinamen! Many people, especially the Westerners laughed at the Chinaman because of his queer habits and the way he speaks English! However please read this story and perhaps you would hold yourself back before you laugh at a Chinaman!

A Chinese man walks into a bank in New York City and asks for the loan officer. He tells the loan officer that he is going to China on business for two weeks and needs to borrow $5,000.

The bank officer tells him that the bank will need some form of security for the loan, so the Chinese man hands over the keys to a new Ferrari parked on the street in front of the bank.

He produces the title and everything checks out. The Loan officer agrees to accept the car as collateral for the loan. The bank's president and its officers all enjoy a good laugh at the Chinese for using a $250,000 Ferrari as collateral against a $5,000 loan.

An employee of the bank then drives the Ferrari into the bank's underground garage and parks it there.

Two weeks later, the Chinese returns, repays the $5,000 and the interest, which comes to $15.41. The loan officer says, 'Sir, we are very happy to have had your business, and this transaction has worked out very nicely, but we are a little puzzled. While you were away, we checked you out and found that you are a multi-millionaire. What puzzles us is why you would bother to borrow $5,000?

The Chinese replies: 'Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there safely when I return.

The Chinese replies: 'Where else in New York City can I park my car for two weeks for only $15.41 and expect it to be there safely when I return.'

In closing I would like to add that the only thing straight about the Chinese is the hair!

Rafael Nadal Burnout?

Hi! friends, haven't been blogging for a week! Sorry for not visiting or even replying to your comments! Well. we were being kept very very busy by my sisters-in-law! Ever since the return of the lively Ruby, it was a week of Food, Food, Food and more Food! We had two Birthday Celebrations and lots of lunch and dinners invitation right up to Ruby's departure two days ago!

On top of all these we were watching the US Open every night up till the wee hours in the morning and waking up late! If you folks have been following the US Open, you would have noticed a drop in performance by the World Number 1, Rafael Nadal! Even from the Beijing Olympics Gold Medal Match, I noticed a drop in Nadal's Performance! He is not so sharp, not so quick and overall quite a lack lustre performance.

Yesterday's Semi-finals with Andrew Murray exposed Nadal's weaknesses and his lethargic play! Somehow the 'Fire' in this great Champion is wanning! It was lucky for Nadal that the rain came or else I don't think he could have won the 4th Set and he was 2 Sets down! The Match was postponed to today and hopefully Nadal reviewed his mediocre performance as compared to Andrew Murray and come-up with a more strategic game plan. It was obvious that Nadal was loosing in his favorite base-line play to Andrew who had a superior 1st Serve and fantastic powerful down the line shots that caught Nadal scampering from side to side! At this point in time I cannot see Nadal beating Roger Federal even if he is lucky enough to beat Andrew Murray!

I guess I should be back in full force blogging after the finals of the US Open! thanks for your comments and looking forward to do some blog hopping soon! Meanwhile, stay healthy and happy!
