Frozen In Time

Today I got a tag from the Genie Princess on a Black & White Snap Shot Tag. This is quite a special type of Tag really. Black & White Photos belong to a time in the past, except perhaps for some professionals who still play around with this to astounding effects!

Well, I do have some B&W shots of myself that's some 40 over years ago and they look really old and faded. However I found one of my Mom's old B&W which I think its the only few photos I have of her and so use this for the Tag.

When you photograph people in color you photograph their clothes. But when you photograph people in B&W, you photograph their souls! ~Ted Grant

Fat Tax Levy

Today Ryanar today considers applying a Fat Tax on very obese passenger! Passengers must be able to put their arm rests down and fasten their seat belts (even with an extension) or they will be asked to pay for an extra seat or be moved on to a later flight.

Ryanar did a survey/competition on this issue and out of 100,000 people, a third agrees to levy such a tax! The revenues from any such fat tax will be used to lower the airfares for all Ryanair’s passengers yet further. United Airlines admitted that they will be charging this soon!

For more details click this link! What do you think of this Levy? Will Air Asia follow up on this too?

Easy Competition

Well folks, I was totally out of connection for 5 days!!!!! The problem was with my ISP and it took them such a long time to fix the problem which was on their side. Just this morning, my internet connection was restored!

To my astonishment I had few hundred emails, twitter requests, facebook invites and a few shouts from other social networks. The most interesting email and shout was from my dear friend The Insane Writer who is Sponsoring a free contest for Duo New Nourishing Hand Cream and Hand, Nail & Cuticle Salve by GildenTree.com.

Prizes include a tube of Natural Hand Cream from Gilden Tree which will be timely for my dry skin problem on both of my palms and soles of my feet! Somehow the skin became exceptionally dry and peeling! If I win the Prize it would be good for me to try out this Natural Hand Lotion Product.

Hey the Competition is for everyone! Hop over to The Insane Writer to win these fantastic products!

Being Grateful

Lately a lot changes had taken place in Malaysia. Firstly, we have a new Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and also a Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Muhyiddin Yassin as well as our ex-Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad re-joining UMNO! A time of excitement in the political arena here.

Our brand new PM gave Malaysians a new hope in his 1 Malaysia concept! However this was undermined by his Deputy when he said that the Non-Malays (Chinese specifically) are ungrateful since the Government (BN) gave so much to the Chinese and yet they supported the Opposition. Well, I guess what he meant was that during the recent by-elections, the Government gave a big allocation to the Chinese Schools!

To have a grateful heart is very important in life. For whatever that we received, we must not only be grateful but also thankful! Here is what I, as a Chinese, is grateful for :-

  • 5% of positions in Government Nursing, Army and Police Service and 2% in RMAF instead of nothing.

  • 7% of job positions in Government Agencies and 2% in Putrajaya instead of nothing.

  • 5% of Government Contracts instead of nothing.

  • 3% of jobs in our National Petroleum Company Petronas instead of nothing.

  • 5% of Government Scholarships instead of nothing.

  • 10% allocations for studies in MARA, a government owned Institution instead of nothing.

  • 2.5% of the Budget allocation for Primary Schools instead of nothing.

  • 5% of positions for lecturers in Government owned Universities instead of nothing.

  • 2% of Budget allocation for Rural Development instead of nothing.

Wow! that's so much to be thankful and grateful for! It looks like the New Economic Policy is more than achieving its target! If the above is reflective of the general trend in most things here, I would think that the level of achievement is about 90%! fantastic! In any set goals, even achieving 70% is to be applauded what more if higher! I guess the photo below indicates what the NEP target was sometime back!

NEP

In English it means "We want 70% NOT 30%"! Lately someone mentioned that the Malays in Malaysia are threatened! Now lets think about that for a moment. With UMNO having control in the following can you believe that the Malays can be threatened?:-

  • Population wise; 65% Malays and 35% Others.

  • Less than 10% non-Malays in Army, Navy and Police Force.

  • Having more than 60% control in Parliament.

  • From non-Malays who do not control important services such as Rice, Telecoms, Power, Petrol, MAS, Shipping and Water?

  • The Main Line Media such as Major Newspaper, TVs and Radio under Government control?

  • The Judiciary, Police and Anti-Corruption Agency under UMNO control?

Now of course the question is under threat from WHOM? It is definitely not too difficult to see that the non-Malays can hardly threatened the Malays at all not to say that the non-Malays ever intend to do that! Perhaps it would be good for everyone to find out WHO is really threatening the Malays! Food for thought.

With so much vague and nonsensical statements stirring up racial sentiments by irresponsible Government officers, I am glad that I do believe in God for He is a JUST God and He WILL NOT let injustice, oppression and suppression be upon our beloved Nation! Amen!

Bumping towards a bottom!

The title sounded very much from some financial report but I assure you that it is definitely not about finance! I did some search on fatal traffic accidents in Jamaica and it seems that there are quite some fatal road accidents!

You can read all about these from the The Kingston Chronicles where you find some serious accidents every few days! Here is an excerpt from some accidents report :-

Police Traffic Division statistics for Jamaica (the largest English speaking island in the Caribbean) were reviewed for the years 1985 - 1990. Data revealed that the majority of fatal accidents occurred between 3 and 6 pm (23 percent) and involved mainly pedestrians (44 percent). Vulnerable road users (pedestrians, motor and pedal cyclists along with their passengers) accounted for 65 percent of fatalities. The month of December accounted for the highest proportion of fatalities.

Now do you ever wondered why is that so in Jamaica? authorities blamed them on bad roads, poor road signs etc but take a look at the photos below and you'll know why accidents are fatal!!!

bum 2

Look again! they don't wear helmets!!!! What are you looking at anyway?????? Have a nice day!
