Of Women, Cars and Financial Planning

Just 3 days back, my daughter, dawn passed her driving tests and obtained her first Provisional Licence. To be honest, I do not know how she could have passed for right up to the night before the test, she was still struggling with gears, reverse parking and a few more. This bring to mind a story I heard from a friend and sharing it here to illustrate the fact that generally most women are not good with cars.

A few days ago a foreman was having some work done at his local garage. A beautiful, classy blond came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten knob. The men all looked at each other and another customer asked, 'What is a seven-hundred-ten knob?' She replied, 'You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine. I have lost it and need a new one.' She replied that she did not know exactly what it was, but this piece had always been there. The foreman gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car which had its hood up and asked 'is there a 710 on this car?' She pointed and said, 'Of course, it's right there.'

However, women are much better in things like financial planning! To illustrate this second point here is another story.

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father dies, he figured he needed a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening at an investment seminar, he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Her natural beauty took his breath away. "I may look like just an ordinary guy," he said to her,"but in just a few years, my father will die and I'll inherit US$200 million."

Impressed, the woman obtained his business card .... and three weeks later, she became his stepmother.
