Are we entering our Darkest Hour?

For the past couple of months, I am getting more and more concerned about our beloved country Malaysia. We are now 50 Years after Independence but judging from the various issues that cropped up in recent months, I have got the feeling that Malaysia is entering her Darkest Hour in terms of Governance. We did make impressive strides in many areas such as in technology, building great structures, economic trade zones, a couple of firsts in the world of sports and the latest being the sending of a Malaysian into Space!

On the other hand, so many other areas in Malaysia seems to be deteriorating and are of great concern :

  • 1. Increase in crimes like robberies, murders and rapes with a few turning cold case files.
  • 2. Horrendous crimes against young children in recent months, some still unsolved.
  • 3. Accusations of Corruption in the Police Force and involvement with organized crimes.
  • 4. Malpractices and Abuse of Authority by Members of Parliament in Local Government.
  • 5. Lack of check and balance in the unauthorized expenditure by Government Departments.
  • 6. Increase Polarization of the different races, and religious beliefs.
  • 7. Legal Cases were thrown out of court due to technical error in the collection of evidence.
  • 8. The recent 2,000 Lawyers March For Justice in Putra Jaya in connection with the Lingam Tapes had the implications of interference of the Judiciary by the Executive Body, which is against our Constitution.
  • 9. Threats in the Waving of the Keris by a Minister and the shout of dipping it in blood.
  • 10. Multi Million Dollars Contracts that produces shoddy work in Government Buildings.
  • 11. Our Political System is still very heavily hinged on racial themes.

Although in the past we did have big boo-boos like the Carrian Case, the Perwaja Steel fiasco, but those were rare but now it seems we uncover lots of questionable issues and in such frequency that sends shivers down my spine. I cannot help but ask myself what is happening to good governance nowadays! Never have we laden with so many pending unresolved important issues just within the last couple of months! It reminds me of a late stage cancer slowly eating away at the patient at an alarming speed! My heart is just heavy!

With consensuses Malaysians like you, have faith that there is a silver lining.

I think Asia is changing, and so are the Asian countries.

Singapore seems to be facing the dark hour chop too, when it was suggested of the possibility of Singapore being a part of Malaysia again even when both countries are at loggerheads all the time.

For the longest time, they preached the importance of “independence” and “loyalty” and yet, the very same person who preached it now suggested this idea. How great!? As a Singaporean, I feel betrayed. I cannot even imagine if these corruption comes into our system.

bro bj, i still think its the work of the opposing force, if you know what i mean… the evil is really trying to sought to change the hearts and minds of men and thus we see the world(not just asia)really corrupted.

I agree with what Suzie said. We are living in a fallen world.
