Just an Update

May 30, 2008 | 5 Comments

Today is the 'Big Day' for my nephew Timmy! He is getting married today! With all the buzz going around for the past week, finally all these will come to a Grand Finale today! Due to the overwhelming response from our extended family all of us have to pull accomodation resources to accomodate all the friends and relatives for this occassion. Perhaps due to the school holidays being in season now, many of our distant relatives and friends are able to come to Kuala Lumpur for the Wedding Ceremony today at 11am! We too, are so excited that we are unable to sleep and getting ready for the day's excitement! In a way we are glad that after tonight's dinner reception, and the relatives returning to their home towns tommorrow, we can catch up with the much needed rest, peace and quiet again. A Wedding is always a happy occassion and so our family grows with an addition of Deborah, the bride but also her family becoming part of our extended family. Expect today to be a long happy day with a buzz of activities starting with the Church Ceremony, Buffet Lunch, Tea Ceremony, Photo Session and the Dinner Reception tonight! Wow! See ya next week!

Moon Cake Festival

September 13, 2007 | 7 Comments

The Chinese Moon Cake Festival / Mid-Autumn Festival / Lantern Festival falls on the 25th September 2007. According to the Lunar Calendar it is on the 15th Day of the Eighth Month commonly called Chung Chow in Cantonese. This is the Third major Festival among the Chinese. It is also quite a Romantic Festival because the moon is full and with lanterns everywhere and the poems hanging around!
Historically it suppose to start somewhere in the 14th Century where Choo Yuen Cheong and his deputy Liu Po-wen orchestrated a surprise uprising in a State occupied by the Mongols. They used Moon Cakes which were filled with messages inside giving details of the attack. In short the revolt was successful and since then The Moon Cake Festival is celebrated among the Chinese people. Today rock's sister brought over a box of beautiful and lovely moon cakes (photo above). It is customary among the Chinese to give each other moon cakes, usually the younger to the elder! Being the eldest in the family, we end up with quite a few boxes of moon cakes! Basically our local Moon Cakes are filled with lotus pastes, bean paste, or a mixture of water-melon seeds and what nots. We even have durian flavoured moon cakes! Moon Cakes are usually taken with Chinese Tea but i guess the Chinese in Kelantan, one of our North-Eastern State take Moon Cakes with Coffee from their local favourite Coffee Outlet! Hey if you are visiting Malaysia and happen to be in Kelantan please drop by for its unique blend of coffee! Its call "Setarbak Kopi" can't miss it I guess and ask for the Open hours please!

Dinner Fit For 2 Fathers

June 17, 2007 | 6 Comments

Tonight's Father's Day Dinner was a memorable one. It was prepared with much love by my sis-in-law Joanne or albert's wife; my younger sibling. Joanne is a fantastic cook and she can easily cook up a sumptous meal for 30 people! Joanne's style of cooking is typically Canotnese or Chinese Style from Guangzhou. By way of introduction come meet us, the two couples and I leave it to you to figure out who is who.
The overall view of the dinner shown here sums up what a feast we were going to have. Well we got the help of albert's children Timmy and Sarah, with Debra Tim's fiance' and Tini our Indonesian maid to share this grand meal. In total there were 8 dishes including a dessert made by Rock in the afternnon.
Here is the Menu.
1. Stir Fried Tiger Prawns in garlic and spring onions.
2. Steam Garoupa served in quality soy sauce.
3. Fried Pak Choy with garlic, served with a tinge of Oyster Sauce.
4. Slow Boiled Plain Chicken.
5. Steam Chicken Eggs, Salted Eggs and Century Eggs Mixed.
6. Plain Tofu in Soy Sauce.
7. Wax Duck Meat. (Left over from Chinese New Year recently I hope).
8. Caramel Egg Custard.
Finally I have to say thank-you to Chit & Sharlene who presented to me this beautiful bouquet of Roses. As for the food, nothing was left! Marvelous! It is great to be a Father of a family united by the bonds of love. It is also God's Blessings to have strong bonding with our extended families. Thank-you Lord!

Rock’s Birthday Party

April 17, 2007 | 2 Comments

Lately we celebrated Rock's Birthday at a Japanese Restuarant. The ambience was good the food great but its the people present that makes it memorable and enjoyable. It is always wonderful to have families around you in any celebrations. Here is Rock cutting her Birthday Cake from Sharlene and Chit. Too bad that our son Jay and daughter Dawn could not be there.
Rock's brothers and sisters were there to share the joy. Ruby came all the way from Germany to attend the party but her husband Hans could not make it. Sorry to have miss you Hans.
The food was great and let these two brothers show you their expressions!
We had a magic show by Jonathan the home-grown, self-taught magician. He is really good and we were all dazzled. I sincerely believe that one day he may even make it into Mondo Magic.
The kiddies shown here are our third generation mingled with the second generation.
So far are Rock's side of the family but my side of the family were present too.
Really we all thank the Lord for keeping us together as one big family.
