Portable Gas Cooker

The Portable Gas Cooker has become a common house-hold item. They are real handy equipment to have in a home. For us, we love Steam-Boat and having a Portable Gas Cooker is an advantage plus these cookers can be very handy for picnics where we need to cook simple meals, or having a picnic on a beach, water-fall camping etc.

However, do be very careful with these gas canisters for they do explode! One can get badly burned if it exploded while in use. I have never had such an awful experience but a Japanese lady had an awful experience. She was having a meal cooking with her Gas Cooker and the canister exploded right in front of her. Below are some photos to show the severe burns she suffered. I guess her gas canister must be a faulty one but in reality how many of us do check these canisters? So please check them out before you use and look for signs of corrosion on the metal suface of these canisters.

You can get them really cheap here at car boot sales for a couple of pounds but you are right, we don’t really know how safe they are. Especially the used ones.

Hi adam, I think they are generally safe, I mean the gas canisters! Of course I do come across rusted canisters and I think it’s better to throw these away rather than taking the risk! thanks!
